GUJRANWALA: The Anti-C
orruption Establishment regional director on Monday ordered officials concer
ned to register cases against six government employees for c
orruption.
Gujrat Town Officer Regulation Javed Tariq, building inspectors Safdar Ghani and Abdul Hafeez, enforcement inspectors Muhammad Tariq and senior clerk of education board were involved in c
orruption.
Separately, GEPCO employees protested against the killing of Rohingya Muslims. The protesters led by Engineering Association President Faisal Nafees, Sheikh Amanullah, Mian Abdul Qayyum, Attaur Rehman, Rana Shahzad, Pegham Union Regional Chairman Javed Dar, Regional Secretary Mian Asghar, Amir Cheema, Labour Union president Waliur Rehman and Sajid Dar.
They shouted slogans and demanded that all Muslim rulers should t
ake notice of
the cruelty.
Meanwhile, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has launched a beautification campaign in
the city.
Walls of overhead bridges, underpasses, government technical institute have been painted in different colours representing
the cultures of the four provinces, Kashmir and
Gilgit Baltistan as well as
the carved figures of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal were carried out on the walls of government buildings.
PHA Director General Tariq Kareem Khokhar told Daily Times, “We are facing shortage of funds and staff but we also doing our best for beautification of
the city.” He said they had launched the beautification drive to improve the face of
the city and for the purpose green belts on GT Road from Pindi bypass to Chand Qilla have been completed.
