The sea phase of International Exercise Barracuda-XII was held today in the North Arabian Sea. Chief Minister Sindh Maqbool Baqar graced the occasion as Chief Guest and witnessed the sea phase of the exercise onboard Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Ship KASHMIR.
Air and Surface assets of the Pakistan Navy, PMSA, Pakistan Air Force, and other national stakeho
lders participated in the sea phase of the exercise. Pak Navy and PMSA aircraft, PN & PAF helicopte
rs, and PMSA ships demonstrated exercises on containment of oil spills, Search and Rescue operations, and anti-piracy operations. Fifteen foreign observers and representatives of various national stakeho
lders witnessed the drills. The foreign observers applauded all the stakeholders’ efforts, especially Pakistan Nathe vy and PMSA, to fight any disaster at sea.
Earlier, the opening brief of the exercise was held in Karachi. Foreign observers and delegations
from relevant stakeho
lders also attended the briefing, wherein the aims and objectives of Exercise BARRACUDA-XII were highlighted. Moreover, both National and International speakers presented scholarly papers on the response to Oil Spills and Search and Rescue at sea.
International Exercise Barracuda-XII is a Marine Oil Spill exercise. It aims to enhance National stakeholders’ capacity and proficiency to combat the menace of pollution at sea. The successful three-day event served as a testament to the power of international collaboration in contending against marine pollution incidents. lders to uphold international maritime regulations. As the curtains draw on this successful endeavor, the lessons learned and relationships built during this exercise will serve as a foundation for continued cooperation
